![]() We do think the oil was a huge part of that, so we definitely recommend a liberal application of oil when cooking this. Now, parts of the chicken ended up overcooking and getting a little bit crispy, but the parts that didn’t ended up juicy, with an absolutely lovely texture. We don’t want to use a word like authentic, because that’s not accurate here, but these have a lovely, earthy flavor with a kind-of-sweet aftertaste that we found really appealing. We’ve had some not-great vegetarian chicken strips before, and the Sweet Earth ones might be the best we’ve trued thus far. The final result, though, was actually pretty darn good. We then added some more oil, and finally the chicken seemed moist enough to not instantly sponge up all of the oil in the pan. So we added some more and the same thing happened. When we added the chicken to our oiled-up skillet, the faux meat soaked up all of the oil almost instantly. Now, we did try some of these before we cooked them, and we found the faux chicken to be flavorful yet dry. (If you want to read the full cooking instructions straight off the package, scroll down to the bottom of the review.) So we heated our stovetop, dropped in some oil, and plopped in the chicken. However, the preferred method is cooking these in a skillet. There are plenty of ways to cook these up, and you can even eat these chicken strips straight out of the package without heating them at all. These faux chicken strips are generally found in the refrigerated section of a grocery store rather than the freezer aisle. Because we’d actually never tried these, we figured we’d give them a go - even though this isn’t a frozen food. We saw these at our local food co-op, and we were reminded about how much fun we had reviewing Sweet Earth products in the past. Nostalgia is indeed a powerful force, and it’s what led us to pick up a batch of the Sweet Earth Mindful Chik’n Strips. We never imagined how much better we’d get at writing these reviews, or how big the site would eventually grow. Those early Sweet Earth reviews are a little cringey looking back, but we were giving it our best shot back then. They are, in fact, one of the very first brands we started reviewing back when we launched Freezer Meal Frenzy. Of course, they are plenty delicious on their own as well.We have a lot of affection for the Sweet Earth brand. They are also commonly used for mock chicken parm, wraps, and salads. These have so many uses but my favorite has got to be pairing them with buffalo sauce. Their texture and flavor make them the perfect chicken tender alternative. Gardein Crispy TendersĪnother Gardein product that has become a regular purchase of mine over the years is their crispy tenders. Because Gardein is one of the more well-known brands, it can be found at almost any major grocery chain. It’s truly a staple for meat-free eaters. These Chick’n Strips have a shredded, grilled texture that makes them perfect for salads, teriyaki dishes as well as pasta. First up, we’ll discuss their Chick’n Strips. They have a very wide selection of vegan meat replacements and I have yet to try a product of theirs that I haven’t liked. Gardein is one of the most well-known vegan brands out there and it is for good reason. I hope as you read on you will find your new favorite chicken alternative, although I don’t doubt you will. After six years of being meat-free, I have searched far and wide for the best chicken alternatives and I feel as though I have come up with the perfect list of vegan chicken brands. With that being said, I have been a proud vegetarian for nearly six years and a vegan for one. ![]() People are moving away from dairy and meat due to their effect on the environment and our health. Animal-free products are becoming an increasingly popular go-to for everyone, plant-based or not.
